Hamlet and Irony
William Shakespeares play Hamlets shock factor is in its irony. Although many different stylistic devices are used throughout the novel to create a world, the world within Hamlets mind, irony truly twists the last kink of the story into place. Hamlet, who is obsessed with the prospect of getting revenge for his slain father, is a tragic, tortured soul. ... Building up Hamlet=s character and that of those around him help to make the final act in the play, in which the ultimate irony occurs, a complete shock and a tragic end.
